Take eco-buggy tours in New Smyrna Beach Oct. 22 & 26

Whether you're an early bird or a night owl, there's an Explore Volusia eco-buggy tour for you next month in New Smyrna Beach!

Learn about important plant communities and be on the lookout for carnivorous plants and the rare Sherman's fox squirrel in Deep Creek Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. Meet at 964 S. State Road 415.

If you prefer a nocturnal ride, see Longleaf Pine Preserve's flatwoods, cypress domes, and swamps on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Meet at the preserve's east entrance, 4551 Pioneer Trail.

Registration is required; call (386) 736-5927. Participants should bring water and insect repellent and wear comfortable clothes and hiking or walking shoes.
