In yet another sign of the times, the annual Master Gardener Plant Faire has been trimmed down and separated into three smaller sales that allow for social distancing – for the people, not the plants.
Anyone can purchase trees and iris plants during the first sale, which will be held by appointment only from 8:45 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 23, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.
Prices range from $2 to $15 each. A list of plants and prices is available at http://plantsales2020.volusiamg.org. To schedule an appointment and place your order, call the UF IFAS Volusia County Extension Urban Horticulture Program at (386) 822-5778 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 16-18. Each appointment will be limited to two people. Purchases may be made with cash or check only, with checks made out to the University of Florida.
Future plant sales include:
· July 7: bromeliads, begonias, succulents and ginger
· July 18: shrubs, perennials, butterfly plants and antique roses
Proceeds will support the county’s Master Gardener Program. Master gardeners receive horticultural training from the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension and volunteer their time to answer questions and teach residents about gardening and landscaping.
