Classical music concert set for New Smyrna Beach Library on Jan. 31

David Pedraza and Sergei Skobin will present “A Recital for Viola and Piano” at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.

Pedrazza, who plays the viola, was born in Mexico and was part of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas between 2003-05 under Placido Domingo, Carlos Prieto and Gustavo Dudamel. He won the first prize with Vitali String Quartet at the 2004 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Virginia chamber music competition and also received honorific mentions in 2005 and 2007 from the MTNA viola competition in Florida. Born in Uzbekistan, Skobin recently graduated from the Lynn Conservatory of Music with a professional performance certificate for piano.

The duo will perform works by composers Marais, Piazzolla and Mozart.
