SKYWARN® Basic Spotter Training Class to be held at Brannon Center on Sep 20

The City of New Smyrna Beach, in cooperation with the National Weather Service in Melbourne, will be hosting the SKYWARN® Basic Spotter Training Class on Thursday, September 20 at the Brannon Center (105 S Riverside Dr) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

SKYWARN® training is geared towards anyone with an interest in public safety and communications during extreme weather events.  SKYWARN® is a program developed and taught by National Weather Service meteorologists and consists of trained weather spotters who report severe and hazardous weather to help in the weather warning process.  SKYWARN® spotter reports provide vital "ground truth" to the NWS.

This is a FREE course that runs approximately two hours.
