TIME OCCURRED:  0642   

SYNOPSIS:   Traffic Crash – 100 Block of Crawford Road.  Driver exited his vehicle while it was still in drive, causing it to strike a drainage pipe.  One citation issued.

SYNOPSIS:  Vandalism – 805 S. Atlantic Avenue (Construction Site).  The reporting person advised that someone attempted to break into the on-site office trailer sometime during the night. Nothing appears to be missing, but the door was damaged in the attempt.  Ongoing investigation.

TIME OCCURRED:  0920

SYNOPSIS:  Police Assist Other Agency – 400 S. Ridgewood Avenue (Edgewater Post Office).  An officer responded to the area at the request of Edgewater Police Department, who had no available officers.  A male on scene was acting irrationally and appeared to be having a mental crisis.  The male was taken into protective custody (Baker Act), and transported to ACT without incident.

SYNOPSIS:  Fraud – 401 Palmetto Street (Florida Hospital New Smyrna).  The reporting person discovered that a known suspect had embezzled a large sum of money from the hospital. Ongoing investigation.

SYNOPSIS:  Dead Person (Natural) – 900 Block of E 2nd Avenue.  Elderly female was discovered in her residence deceased.  Nothing suspicious about the incident, and report taken for documentation.

SYNOPSIS:  Misdemeanor Arrest – 100 N. Atlantic Avenue (7-Eleven).  27 year old female, Stephanie Rodriguez, was placed under arrest for having an open warrant out of Volusia County for failure to appear.  She was transported to jail without incident.
