Zone 3 Commissioner Jason McGuirk

Commissioner Jason McGuirk was first elected to represent Zone 3 on the City Commission in 2012. He currently serves as a member of the Volusia County Transportation Planning Organization and New Smyrna Beach Fire Pension Board. As Commissioner, Jason intends to protect what makes New Smyrna Beach so unique and special to its citizens and encourage redevelopment and reinvestment into the City’s core business districts.

Jason was born and raised in Miami, FL and chose to live in New Smyrna Beach after high school to operate the local Dairy Queen his grandmother established in 1953. Jason soon felt the desire to give back to the community he loves by serving on various boards, which include the Planning & Zoning Board, Volusia Forever Board, Beach Policy Advisory Board and the Volusia County Transportation Planning Organization. 

Jason is married to Jesse (Baumline) McGuirk, has a son Truman, and daughter Isla Brie. Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of West Florida. 

In his spare time, Jason enjoys reading, community involvement, and the outdoors, often taking time to pay homage to the areas wonderful beaches, waterways, and natural areas. His hobbies include hiking, boating, fishing, and golfing.
