Beach Lot Parking Pass Information

All New Smyrna Beach parking passes expire Dec. 31, 2021

The City of New Smyrna Beach will not be rolling over existing parking permits for 2022 and all currently issued parking permits will expire on Dec. 31, 2021. Anyone wishing to obtain a parking permit for 2022 (free for Volusia residents and property owners) must apply for a new permit at our Online Parking Permits page.

When applying online, applicants will need to upload their Driver’s License, registration for each vehicle, and proof of Volusia County residency or property ownership. Accepted forms of proof of residency include Volusia County tax bill, rental or lease agreement, or six consecutive utility bills.

If you are unable to apply online, or need assistance, you can bring your documents to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department at 246 Industrial Park Ave., Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. For inquiries related to parking, please contact Nancy Chapman at nchapman@cityofnsb.com or (386) 424-2238.

Beachfront Lot Parking Passes

In 2017, the City of New Smyrna Beach began issuing annual electronic parking passes in lieu of physical passes for the following five locations, listed below from north to south:

  • Grayce K. Barck North Beach Community Park, 1100 N. Atlantic Ave.
  • Esther Street Beachfront Park, 551 Esther St.
  • Flagler Avenue Boardwalk, 210 Buenos Aires St.
  • Marianne Clancy Park, 901 S. Atlantic Ave.
  • 27th Avenue Beachfront Park, 3701 S. Atlantic Ave.

Parking is enforced daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To avoid a fine, vehicles parked in these lots must have a City of New Smyrna Beach annual parking pass or purchase a $20 daily pass from a kiosk at the lot. The daily fine for vehicles without a pass is $35.

Annual parking passes are available to non-Volusia County residents for $100. Both Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D.) permits and non-resident passes MUST also be renewed annually.

Vehicles with a valid disabled parking permit may park at no charge and do not require a beachfront parking pass.

Residents can get a free parking pass online at our Online Parking Permits page.

Volusia County residents may obtain a FREE PARKING PASS with proof of residency.

Frequently asked questions

Will this pass also permit me to drive or park on the beach?

The New Smyrna Beach beach lot parking pass only is for the City’s five beachfront parking lots (see map on this page). This enables citizens to park and walk down on to the beach. Drivers who would like to drive or parking directly on to the beach must purchase a pass from Volusia County Government (a separate agency that manages the beaches). For info on beach driving, visit www.volusia.org/services/public-protection/beach-safety/ .

Do the parking kiosks accept cash?

Each of the five beachfront lots has an electronic kiosk that only accepts credit cards (Mastercard and Visa) and cash but not coins. Change is not provided for cash payments. Please make sure you have the exact amount ($20/day).

If a family has two vehicles, is it possible to get a parking pass one for each vehicle?  In other words, two parking passes?

Yes- apply online.

Can I mail in the application with a proof of residency?

No. Effective 10/5/2017 online is the only form of application accepted by the City of New Smyrna Beach.

Does the parking fee also apply to parking at Bethune Beach Beachfront and the parking spaces that are across the street?

No. The beach lot parking pass only applies to the City’s five beachfront parks listed on the map on this page.

We usually have family gatherings twice a year at New Smyrna Beach. We park four or five cars at the lot in the 27th Avenue Beachfront Park.  If one car has a parking pass decal that was issued to a Volusia County Resident, must the other cars pay for parking if we are in a group?

Yes. The other non-resident cars will either need to pay the daily $20 fee at the lot or purchase an annual beach lot parking pass.

Am I eligible for a "parking lot" pass as a property owner and not a resident?

New Smyrna Beach has a lot of property owners and weekend or seasonal residents who contribute to the maintenance of these five beachfront parks through annual property taxes. Apply online with your Volusia County tax bill with your address on it along with your registration, we will issue you an electronic free parking pass.
