Fire & Rescue
With four fire stations, the New Smyrna Beach Fire and Rescue Department serves the City of New Smyrna Beach and also responds to call in adjacent unincorporated areas of Volusia County. Through our regional partnership, we work jointly with surrounding agencies to protect 38 square miles of incorporated area and reciprocate with automatic-aid.

The success of the New Smyrna Beach Fire and Rescue Department is attributed our rank and file members participating in various functions within the department in order to meet the never-ending demands of providing top quality service to the public.

The department consists of:

  • 1 Fire Chief
  • 1 Fire Marshall
  • 1 Administrative Assistant
  • 1 Emergency Manager
  • 3 Battalion Chiefs
  • 12 Lieutenants
  • 12 Driver Engineers
  • 9 Firefighters

All personnel have medical training, with 22 holding their Paramedic Licenses.

The New Smyrna Beach Fire and Rescue Department offers a wide range of emergency and non-emergency services. Services are handled by three shifts designated as shift A, shift B, and shift C and work a 56-hour workweek.

Emergency response is offered for:

  • Advanced life support 
  • Inspections
  • Technical rescue
  • Natural disasters
