Responsibilities

The City Manager is appointed by the City Commission and serves as the administrative head of City Government. She provides general guidance and management to City departments, executes Commission policy, and the long
range goals and objectives adopted by the City Commission, coordinates City efforts to accomplish cost savings and increased efficiencies, lobbies the State Legislature for more favorable consideration of City funding and legislative requests, and prepares the City's annual operating budget.

The City Manager attends all City Commission meetings, sees that the laws, policies, and ordinances are enforced, is the Purchasing Agent, Personnel Director, and Emergency Management Director for the City, and recommends to the City Commission, for adoption, such measures as may be deemed necessary or expedient in the interest of the City of New Smyrna Beach.
