Animal Services

The Code Enforcement Department provides animal services to the public in the most effective, efficient and courteous manner possible. We provide professional, proactive enforcement of New Smyrna Beach City Ordinances and State statues relating to animals.

The following animal issues are handled by animal services: 
  
  • Animal abuse and neglect
  • Loose and nuisance animals
  • Injured animals
  • Animal bites and attacks
  • Abandoned pets
Does Animal Services respond to non-domesticated animal calls?
Yes, we respond to non-domesticated animal calls involving a bite or attack to a human or an animal, particularly those dealing with raccoons, bats, foxes, and other possible rabies carriers. Animal services does not respond to nuisance wildlife calls or remove trapped nuisance wildlife.
