Golf Course closed beginning May 18 for summer renovations; to reopen Labor Day with new greens
New greens, bunkers and salt-tolerant grass are in the plans for new and improved links at the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Course. To accommodate the improvements, the course will close Monday, May 18.
The course is expected to reopen on Labor Day – September 5.
The renovations will improve the experience for our golfers. It will provide a dense, healthy turf for play and be easier to maintain.
Existing members will receive a four-month extension on their membership to compensate for the summer closure.
The greens will be replanted with Platinum Paspalum, a salt-tolerant species that requires less water and does not need to be over seeded in the winter.
Due to the extensive improvements planned for the course, the entire golf facility will be closed during renovations and the grow-in period – about four months. However, Tiano’s Italian Restaurant, a facility tenant, will remain open.
