Less than 5 City parks currently remain up for adoption as part of a new program launched by the City of New Smyrna Beach. From small, one-acre pocket parks to larger waterfront public areas with playgrounds, individuals and groups may sign up to clean up a park for one year.
Adoptive park parents must commit to clean up activities at least monthly and participate, as available, in special projects such as landscaping. Picking up litter, pulling weeds, spreading mulch, planting foliage and notifying the City of needed maintenance are typical park duties that would be conducted by volunteers.
Adoptive groups will be recognized on park signage. The City will supply needed tools, equipment and materials for projects.A list of the parks initially up for adoption., an application and additional program materials may be downloaded below.
